Introduction
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy notice sets out our privacy practices and explains how we collect, process, hold and store (together, handle) client data, and with whom we share it. The information we handle is only what we need to deliver the services you ask for. Except as set out in this notice, we do not supply your client data to any other company for marketing purposes.
WeSure is the trading name of We Sure Limited, company number 14718290, registered office 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX. We are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent body set up to uphold information rights. As a data controller we must make sure we comply with UK data protection law whenever we handle personal information.
You may browse our website without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. The information we collect is only what is needed to run the site, to answer what you have asked for, and to provide our services.
We review this notice regularly and update it from time to time. The version and date at the top change when we do, the version you agreed to is stored with your enquiry, and we let existing clients know by email when a change affects them.
What is personal information
By personal information we mean any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified, in particular by reference to an identifier. Under data protection legislation it is known as personal data. Some personal information identifies you directly, for example your name and email address. It may also be possible to identify you indirectly from information in which your name is not given, for example your job title and employer, or an online identifier.
What client data we collect
- Personal details: full name, title and date of birth.
- Contact details: telephone number, mobile number, correspondence address and email address.
- Enquiry details: what you are looking for, the property, its value, your deposit or outstanding balance, your household income, your timeframe, how and when you prefer to be contacted, and anything you write in a message. For life and protection enquiries we ask only which type of cover interests you; we do not ask health questions on the website.
- Financial details: bank details and the documents a lender or insurer needs, such as identification, proof of income and address, and bank statements. We ask for these only if you go on to become a client, and we explain what we need and why at the time.
- Your consent choices, the version of this notice you agreed to, and the date and time.
How we collect your client data
- Contacting us. We may record, use and store any telephone, postal, email or other electronic communication you send us, so that we can refer back to any instruction you have given and make sure the information we give you is accurate.
- Online forms. We collect the details you enter into our quote and contact forms. When you submit a form we also record the page you sent it from, any campaign tags in the address, your browser type, how long the form took to complete, and your IP address, which we store only as a one-way hash. These help us tell people from automated submissions and keep the site secure.
- Area lookups. If you type a postcode into the mortgage calculator, our server passes it to postcodes.io to find the local authority and then fetches HM Land Registry price averages for that area. The postcode is not stored; only the area's published figures are kept for a short time to speed up the next lookup.
- General statistics. With your consent we collect statistics about pages visited, paths through the website and the search terms used to find us, to understand what visitors need and improve the site's design and layout. This uses Google Analytics and runs only if you accept analytics in the cookie banner.
We have appropriate measures in place to make sure personal details are not misused, accidentally destroyed, lost or altered within the server environment. No data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure, and you send information to us at your own risk. Our website contains links to other sites; once you leave our site we have no control over the linked site, this notice does not govern it, and you should read its own privacy notice.

How we store client data

- Access is limited to the people who need it to handle your enquiry or your file.
How long we keep it
- An enquiry that does not lead to a client relationship and is marked as not proceeding has its personal data erased after 12 months. The product, the figures and the status are kept for statistics without anything that identifies you.
- Submissions we identify as spam are deleted after 30 days.
- Where you become a client, we keep your file for as long as our regulator requires, so that we can answer any question or complaint about the advice we gave.
- Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it, and for a short period afterwards as a record that you did.
